SOMETHINGS ARE BETTER LEFT UNKNOWN-part 2

The Survey map showed the trees extending approx. 100 yards beyond our backyard. I continued walking for what seemed hours, even though my watch showed that only an hour and half had passed. Just as I lifted my gaze from my watch I ran smack into something. I'm not sure how to describe it; its like a solid wall that is painted to match the forest. I picked myself up off the ground, and put my hands out in front of me, reaching forward until I found it. I stretched my arms up as high as I could go and then slid them against it all the way to the ground. No gaps, no bumps, just this flat object that stopped me dead in my tracks. I started walking again this time with one hand on the wall to see if it stopped at some point. After another 50 steps, I found myself in a corner. The object or wall turned and stated runnning perpendicular to the one I had just followed. It was though I was in some kind of large scale box. I stood there pondering this moment, have of me confused, the other half starting to feel a strange fear coming over me. Then, as I turned towards the wall once again, an odd thing began to happen. About 4 ft off the ground, the wall began to change to a clear bright glass. It was as though I were standing in front of windows and I was the one being observed. Not the other way around. I heard the release of air, and then an opening approx 3ft wide and 7ft tall appeared. The light and mist from inside, spilled into the tree grove. A human hand extended forward and said welcome, we've been expecting you. I stepped though apprehensively, and just as quickly the opening vanished. There I stood, no going back. The figure stepped forward, and behind it stood another 100 or more, I gasped. The hand may have had human traits, but the head was large and triangular, the body a pearlescent white. And the eyes, oh the eyes, so black and emotionless. Once again the figure spoke. "Your late! What took you so long?" They began to mumble among themselves as I stood there, frozen with fear. Suddenly, the first one again spoke. "You are unacceptable! Your friends started arriving at the quadrant door nearly a decade of your Earth time ago. Your Grandparents and Parents volunteered for the Alien Re-entry study, to help further our Earth colony. They knew their lives would serve the greater good and agreed to live, raise childen, and die within the confines of the Quadrant. Our saucers stored beneath the base's runway are preparing to make their final rendevous with the Mother Ship on the anniversary of the first invitation from your government. And as a reject you will be among those taken aboard and traded for our own kind who will return and take your place." As I speak, I know the life I had is gone, I am somewhere in deep space, a slave to an Alien race. A curiosity and source of labor for them. Now I know why my Grandma used to say "somethings are better left unknown.

The End
