SEA TURTLE

As I walked down the beach toward him I knew my moment of truth had arrived. "You ready son?" Yes I am! I climbed on his grand shell, hardened by all the great battles he had fought for us. I thought of all those years he had swam against the tide rolling in, rolling out. Making dam sure we had it all!  I reached for those great broad shoulders, then held on tight. "Hold on son!" He paddled furiously, as we headed for the sea. My hands were like vices now as the water engulfed us. Down we plunged into the great blue sea. We rush past danger and expectations far too low for him, so we rush toward the surface again, and again, taking a breath of air. Then it happened as we headed toward a pack of  sharks, I started to lose my gripe. His head flew around, a smile on his face, as we tore right threw them. We soared to the top breaking the surface, as he screams "LUCILLE!" Then suddenly we are back on the beach. Then as I get to my feet I look down on him his head pointed to the sea, and I hear these words. "We have given you all we know and all we can, no acts, no more deeds! I try to speak, he waves me on. Slowly walking on into the sun I look back at him, waiting for the last TIDE!
