I was recently watching an episode of Glee when Gwyneth Paltrow guest starred and performed this song as a means of teaching the kids about sex. (Uh hum, Right!) Anyway, I couldn't resist singing along to this head-banging, fun song, and since it's "Hump Day," it makes a perfect choice for today's "Song of the Day." Enjoy!

Today's "Song of the Day" is in honor of THE biggest Stevie Nicks fan I know, my friend Eddie. Eddie's coming up for a few days from Florida and "Rose" will be joining Blanche, Dita and I for what I'm sure will be some brand new good times. In fact, for the first time since the 4th of July I will actually be going to the Grove with people on Saturday night. It's gonna be lots of fun, I'm sure!

Anyway, back to the song...Of course Setvie Nicks has plenty of songs to choose from, both from Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist, and knowing Eddie, I'm sure he would prefer one of the songs off of her newest album, "In Your Dreams," but hey, I don't know it and besides this one was made into a remix a few years ago by Deep Dish and you know how I love good dance music.

This version, which I'm posting first, is a fantastic interpretation of the original and Stevie provides the vocals. It made me love the song all over again when it was out, and even though I had a hard time finding the specific video for it, I finally did. So check out Deep Dish's "Dreams" followed by Fleetwood Mac's original. I'm posting the lyrics below because they're just sooooo good! Enjoy!

Happy Saturday everyone! Well, we're up to the letter "N" in our quest to finally get through this long overdue Z to A Blogger's Challenge, and like I've done with other letters before, the letter "N" has quite a few noteworthy musical connotations for me...



N is for Naughty Girls (Need Love, Too)

Before Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, and Kim Kardashian there was Samantha Fox. Samantha Fox was a British poster model back in the 80's who turned to music with the help of Full Force (famous for working with Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam). It's funny, my brother and I loved her for very different reasons....he always had her on his wall and I always had her in my CD player, lol. Samantha had several club and pop hits, and this was one her biggest.







N is for Nu Nu

"What's a Nu Nu?," you ask. Well it's a very catchy, doo woppy song from an artist called Lidel Townsell from back in 1992. Some of you may remember it....it's very catchy and one of those types of songs you'll be singing for hours after you listen too it. Check it out:







N is for Neutron Dance

"Someone stole my brand new Chevrolet
and the rent is due I've got no place to stay"

That's my favorite line from this one! The Pointer Sisters used to be hella cool back in the day, and this one was one of their biggest hits, from the movie "Beverly Hills Cop," with Eddie Murphy. Nothing but fun!!!!







N is for Never

Since this post is for so many songs and my musical tastes have always been across the board, I wanted to share one here that's rockin'. Heart is comprised of the Wilson sisters, beautiful voiced Annie and guitarist Nancy. They had several great songs back in the 70's and 80's and this one is hands down my all time favorite!

N is for Nobody's Supposed to Be Here

Love, love, love this one. This was THE dance anthem back in 1998, and it still fills dance floors whenever it's played. Awesome dance song!







N is for No Reason to Cry

The last "N" song of the day is a freestyle song by one of the princesses of the genre, Ms. Judy (pronounced "Hoodi") Torres. A new friend of mine, Jeremy, who I found out has great taste in music, and I were talking about freestyle yesterday and he told me that he met Judy one time. Joe and I used to love her and this song.... It is sooooo freestyle! Unfortunately there weren't too many vids to choose from with this one, and this one getes cut off a little at the end, but it's a live performance that's slammin'.

Happy Hump Day everybody! Admittedly I am not a big Red Hot Chili Peppers fan, but for some reason, this song absolutely calls to me. Ever since it came out in 1992, I've spent many a night listening to this very tender and dramatic tune. The record is extremely soft for these wild boys of rock, and it's oh so good! (Oh, and I used to think Anthony Kiedis was beautiful, too!) Big props to theses guys for this one! Enjoy!

It’s been hard to choose from amongst all of the possibilities, so like I did with the letter “B” on the way down, I’m going to do the same with the letter “W” on the way back up…

‘Walk Away’ is a Donna Summer song off of her classic 1979 album ‘Bad Girls.’ The song has always been one of my favorites and it’s kind of sad, but with a great musical track that’s pure disco through and through. I found solace in the song not long after my recent breakup…

W is for ‘Walk This Way’



The year 1986 was a monumental one in the world of music. During that year, popular rap trio Run DMC recorded their own updated version of Aerosmith’s classic rock anthem ‘Walk This Way’ and history was made. The song married the two genres together for the very first time and propelled rap music into the mainstream forevermore. The hit record also became the catalyst for the resurgence of the rock band, whose popularity had been lagging since the turn of the decade. Check out the video for the remake, with Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry joining forces with the trio from Hollis, Queens for a fun MTV-style video.






W is for ‘Wannabe’

W is for ‘We Will Rock You’



Queen is one of the greatest rock bands to ever hit the stage. With so many great songs in their catalog, one can’t help but wonder how many more we’d have had Freddie Mercury not left us so soon. Classics such as ‘We Are the Champions,’ ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ ‘Fat Bottomed Girls,’ ‘You’re My Best Friend,’ and the song that inspired the name of a current pop star, ‘Radio Gaga,’ are but a small portion of the huge legacy this band left behind. This is one of my favorites, a rock anthem that’s so powerful it is still commonly used as rallying cries at sporting events around the globe. Oh, and I used to love that 'News of the World' album cover, too!





W is for ‘When I Grow Up’



We began this post with a song from recent times and we finish just the same. This one, by the funky Pussycat Dolls, still fills up dance floors whenever it’s played. Enjoy 'When I Grow Up':

So there you have it. It's been really difficult choosing the songs to include here because there are so many. Perhaps some of the ones I didn't choose will pop up here or there, we'll see. I've been searching for a special song all day to choose for today's honor. You see, today marks the two-year anniversary of my father's death. I had never been close to my dad and fortunately towards the end of his life I came to make amends with him and appreciate him for all the things he was rather than the things he was not. His death was a transforming moment in my life I'll never forget and I still miss him to this day.

I had thought of naming a song that says "I miss you" or something like that, but then I came across this one. The lyrics of Foreigner's 'I Want to Know What Love Is' are so powerful and spiritual, I find it to be the perfect song for remembering my dad. I think that in his own unique way he always wanted to know how to love, but never quite learned how to do it right. So this one's for you, dad, with great love always.

A short while ago I published my latest Pop News Weekly and when I was going over the week's charts I noticed that Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours' was the 3rd highest downloaded album today. The sight of it struck me odd because it's an album from the 70's. Then I also saw that the Gleesters had a song on the top ten list, called 'Go Your Own Way.' Hmmmm

I also remember that when I did my New Music for May piece that Stevie Nicks' new album came out yesterday. Again, hmmmm...coincidence? I'm sure these things were all planned to get the biggest bang out of everyone's buck. Anyway, being that I've put a Kylie song up for the past three days and I haven't done too much rock and roll lately, I decided to search out a good Fleetwood Mac song. I love Fleetwood Mac and I love Stevie Nicks (Shout out to my pal Eddie...she's his diva!), so they're very deserving of a shout out today.



I didn't want to do 'Go Your Own Way' simply because it's not my favorite, though it is a very good song. I went to YouTube and searched for Fleetwood Mac videos and I came across this one, one of my favorites. My sister's best friend was named after this song and it's classic Mac, with dark, methodical tones and an irresistibly catchy chorus. This performance of 'Rhiannon' is from an old TV show that I remember from when I was young. It was a late Saturday night music show called "The Midnight Special," and they always had cool performances from the day's music scene, just like this one...
