President Franklin D. Roosevelt presented his "Four Freedoms" address to Congress on January 6, 1941. He stated that all nations of the world share Americans' right to "freedom of speech and expression, freedom of worship, freedom from want and freedom from fear." The "Four Freedoms" were adopted by the United Nations in 1948 as a "Universal Declaration of Human Rights".
As Americans around the world celebrate this 4th of July, whether they be watching fireworks, BBQing, or simply enjoying a day off from work, take a moment and remember all those that have paid the ultimate price with their lives for our independence and freedom and recognize that their are those that are still fighting today to maintain what most of us take for granted.
Our hearts go out to American servicemen and women around the world. We will never be able to thank you enough for your brave sacrifices on our behalf, and the behalf of those peoples in other countries struggling to achieve independence and freedom for themselves.
