As an American, I am moved to tears.
May those of us who never walked the barren landscape or endured endless shelling be there to welcome all of you back home, as you step back onto U.S. soil.
Let us greet you with open arms, hugs, and handshakes, and recognize you for the incredible sacrifices you have made and the heroes that we all know you are.
Our sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles and family are coming back to us. Please give those of us who did not fight, the courage to step up and make their transition from enlisted to civilian, one of new beginnings, hope, and encouragement. This group of brave soldiers will need our support for a long time to come. As Americans let us rise and surpass the challenges they will present to us. Let us do all the right things.
