911/REAL HEROES

, I will be kingAnd you, you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can beat them, just for one day
We can be heroes, just for one day
And you, you can be mean
And I, I'll drink all the time
'Cause we're lovers, and that is a fact
Yes we're lovers, and that is that
Though nothing, will keep us together
We could steal time, just for one day
We can be heroes, for ever and ever
What d'you say?I, I wish you could swim
Like the dolphins, like dolphins can swim
Though nothing, nothing will keep us together
We can beat them, for ever and ever
Oh we can be heroes, just for one day!
I, I won't be king
And you, you won't be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can be heroes, just for one dayWe can be us, just for one day.
I, I can remember (I remember)
Standing, by the wall (by the wall)And the guns, shot above our heads (over our heads)And we kissed, as though nothing could fall (nothing could fall)
And the shame, was on the other side
Oh we can beat them, for ever and everThen we could be heroes, just for one day!!!!!

GOODNIGHT MR. PHELPS (ENCORE)

I know that everyone is going to leave this earth eventually, it is just a given in the equation of life.  Some however, evoke thoughts and memories of a time past; a fond recollection of a moment in our lives that stands out from the rest, and for me, Peter Graves did just that.
A week long family vacation to Washington, DC with my parents and my younger sister, when I was only 11 became much more than a sightseeing trip of monuments and history.  Brochures and cameras in hand, the four of us spent the first couple of days, visiting the Lincoln Memorial, watching money be printed at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, and after enjoying the view, walking down the 896 steps of the Washington Monument.  It was my first taste of history that was tangible and current.  Our next stop came midweek, when after a hardy breakfast we took a taxi to the White House.  There we stood, outside the curving iron fence, peering through the bars at the Presidential residence.  My Father then shepherded us over to the waiting line that would eventually give way to a tour of the most famous house in the country.  A mere 30 minutes later, there we were, standing at the visitors entrance of the White House, ready to go in when out walks Actor Peter Graves!
Now mind you, my entire family enjoyed watching each episode of Mission Impossible.  The show began with Agent Phelps, (played by Graves), listening to a tape of instructions outlining the details for his team's latest mission and explaining that if he or any of his agents were killed or captured "the secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions" and then the tape would always self-destruct right in the player, within seconds of Phelps listening to it.  I don't think the writers of those words, have any idea how often during the shows initial run that those lines were repeated by fans, young and old.
I'm not sure my Father could believe his eyes, judging by the look on his face.  There, standing 2 feet from him, dressed in a suit and tie with that beautiful white hair, Mr. Graves smiled, said hello, reached out and shook my Fathers hand, as my Mother and us girls watched on in awe.  He then told us to enjoy the tour as we stepped through the door and  he proceeded to shake a few more hands of those in line.  I don't really remember what I saw inside the White House, but I'll never forget the consummate gentleman and Actor I met at the door that day.

Today, March 14, 2010, with sad heart, and fond memories I wish you farewell Peter Graves, rest in peace.  Born Peter Aurness, March 18, 1926.  Known professionally as Peter Graves, a truly iconic American film and television actor.  His role as Jim Phelps in the series Mission: Impossible won him a Golden Globe Award in 1971 and earned him nominations for Emmy Awards and Golden Globe awards in other seasons of that show.  As host of A&E Biography, he won an Emmy Award for outstanding informational series in 1997.  Peter was the younger brother of  actor James Arness of Gunsmoke fame. GOODNIGHT!!!

LEAVE THE MEMORIES ALONE

LEAVE THE MEMORIES ALONE, all I want is to get back home!  Lord don't leave because I've grown!!!  Leave me to some piece of me, all I need is to see some of my old memories.

LEAVE THE  MEMORIES ALONE, their what I need to get back home!!  All I wait for is your mercy, but my eyes grow dark as my blood runs from me.

GOD, I ask one plea, LEAVE THE MEMORIES ALONE, they're all I have and they may save me, damn this pain.

LEAVE THE MEMORIES ALONE, I see her as I go.  I wonder what they will do without me, will they have to beg and plead, who will supply them with their needs.

LEAVE THE MEMORIES ALONE!!  I watch the coming end of day and fear this place is where I'll lay.

LEAVE THE MEMORIES ALONE, Lord I know I'm on my own.  What will they do when I'm gone?  All around me the noise is crazy and the blood sprays over me as my mind grows hazy.

LEAVE THE MEMORIES ALONE, all I want is to get back home.  Lord, Oh Lord did you betray me, the night has come you see, to set me free.

LEAVE THE MEMORIES ALONE, all I want is to get back home.  Angels wings flutter over where I lay as Death's dark mask has come to stay.

LEAVE THE MEMORIES ALONE, all I want is to get back home.

THE CRUSHING BLOW

The challenge of japan is another reminder, that altering nature is not a good thing. Fuel emissions, the dumping of waste into our seas, is seen by some as the cost of doing business. But that business is DEATH!!!!  As the toll of lives lost continues to rise upward can we say it was worth it. The ozone has more holes now then a slice of Swiss cheese, the men of science scream, STOP! But we are deaf , dumb ,and blind. As I write this, blocks of frozen Ice float across the sea, millions of years old separated from giants in ANTARTICA. Some will say it has nothing to do with global warming. Mans Impact can no longer be denied, as he forgets he is the steward of this blue-green marvel. Sometimes nature is not that kind, so as we rotate, spinning around the Sun, the hope for common sense is fleeting. Our world depends on us to do the right thing. Now the evidence seems to prove to some we have no choice, that the folly of men has proven that science is the only truth of what our world is truly going through.

As  many people lay under concrete and steel, their bodies crushed and broken, and homes have been reduced to ruble, rescue workers are desperately trying to find those who may still be alive. Food and water shortages abound, leading to desperate acts, but still the Red Cross and other great organizations continue to help. We at the Croquille Master remember a quote from a long, long time ago from Wm. Shakespeare, "The fault, dear Brutus, lies not in our stars, but in ourselves if we are underlings".

THE RED MOON

The red Moon believes it is the Sun.  It shines no light on a barren world, it gives no life!  THE RED MOON believes it, has kept its place secret for TOO long.  It reveals that life really started here.
Long ago its rival the Sun had sent a kill shot to the BLUE GREEN COLD EARTH below!!  It is now a lifeless sphere orbiting around its KILLER!
The Sun laughs at the Moon. It's only red because it bathes in it's light.   Moon, oh Moon, you once made the tides on Earth move, your day is done.
The red Moon believes it is the Sun.  The tides gave life to things that flowed under the waters of the Earth, but the pull of the Sun is undeniable, so hard to resist!

HOMEGROWN TERROR

My name is Elizabeth and I really don't remember much before my seventh birthday.  The only thing I really have to go on, is the diary and stories Grandma used to tell me and Evan; my older Brother.  Sometime in the fall of Twenty-Sixteen, right before the November elections, a small but vocal part of the citizenry began to take matters in their own hands. Angry because attempts to get their representatives on the ballots had failed miserably, they were not willing to concede that their beliefs were not those of the majority of Americans.  Already armed more heavily than 90% of the population, they broke into cells scattered throughout the states and embarked on a wave of DEATH and DESTRUCTION, never seen within our shores.
Grandma told us that at the time things started happening, it seemed as though the country was just experiencing some terrible and unfortunate events.  First the Oakland Raiders Football team perished in a plane crash just outside the fences of LAX airport.  Three days later, a fire brokeout in "The Stable Club", a popular D.C. restaurant and meeting place for high ranking Democrats in and out of office.  That fundraiser took the lives of 6 seated Senators, the Chairman of Party, and 3 house representatives, while 11 others where rushed to the hospital, seriously burned and near death.  Arson was ruled the cause after excelerants were found and the fact emergency doors were chained together from the outside.  The media kept incident reporting buried in the back pages of the paper, while broadcasters relegated it to the wee hours of the morning.  The following week 4 democratic Governors were shot dead in their offices, while 11 more received threats that they were next, prompting some elected Democrats to start resigning out of fear.  National Guard was dispatched in each state to protect those in office, but it was too little to late, according to Grandma, because the powers that be in our country had never really taken our homegrown terrorists seriously until now.  The nation was ill prepared for what lay ahead.
October 17, celebrated in past years as "International Day for the Eradication of Poverty", took on a whole new meaning to the Teabag militia, and those of us on the receiving end of their wrath.  Starting at 5:00am EST, critical Infrastructure ranging from Interstates and crucial bridges, to electrical power stations and remote Satellite installations were blown to bits, along with anyone in the way.  Airport control towers were leveled, leaving planes circling until they dropped from the sky as their fuel ran out.  Within the hours, armies of bulldozers and commandeered tanks entered city after city that had voted for Democrats and began leveling their houses, schools, churches, day-cares, and shops.  Shooting to kill anyone that didn't flee the destruction.  Grandma told me that neighborhoods of color, mainly Hispanics and African American, were targeted first, followed by trailer parks full of poor whites, believing that making the poor and minorities homeless, living day to day hungry and fearful, would keep them from voting that November, thus ensuring a victory in the upcoming election for the Teabaggers candidates.
Her diary entry at 3:00 pm that day, of how word had spread like fire through Grandma's neighbors that the bulldozers had already flattened the east side and were within 45 minutes of their houses.  How she cried as she loaded blankets, clothes, food, and her dog and two cats in the back of her truck.  Hearing the machines approaching, she hurriedly filled jugs with water, loaded a trash bag with matches, soap, a frying pan, cups and a couple towels, plus a notebook full of addresses and her purse, and took one final glance as she ran from her house to the truck.  In the rear view mirror she watched as house after house behind her fell in a cloud of dust as she drove away.  She hoped her neighbors too were able to escape, she probably would never know for sure though.  Speeding through stop signs and lights, she asked the trucks built in phone to dial my Dad.  Finally, after 3 rings he answered.  "Leave work and head home now", she later wrote in her diary, as the words she uttered to my father. "Stay off the interstates, tell your employees, most of the city is gone. Bye, I'll see you soon, be careful".
    Grandma wrote that she
spotted Harvey's
grown children with granddaughter in tow, running with a crowd of people being chased by gun wielding men in cars and pick up trucks, who were slowly picking them off one by one.  As she came alongside them, she wrote that she yelled to them to get in, and they did.  The next entry told of bodies littering the street behind her speeding truck as men, women and children screamed in utter terror as she drove past them.  A few miles down the road she wrote that she pulled over into an old shopping center lot, abandoned long ago, to allow her passengers to get themselves more secured in the bed of the truck.  Moments later, she once again hit the road, her sights set on locating Harvey.  After spending 30 minutes detouring around the ribbons of gravel and concrete chunks once known as highway that encircled the city, Grandma wrote that she pulled into the parking lot of the printing firm were he worked as a designer.  The lot was empty save one car with a flat tire.  Just as she was about to drive off, she spotted him, jumping up out of the tall grass and running towards the truck.  Once he was inside the cab, she could see the relief on his face, and even more so as he turned to see his family safely in the back.  She wrote that she told him she was heading to my Dad's.  Hopefully, we all would be safe their, at least for a little while.  His only response was "Go".  She told him to try and phone him but by now all radio's, televisions, phones, and computers were eerily quiet as communications had ceased across the continental U.S.
The next entry in the diary, written at 8:00pm tells of driving miles out of route, avoiding roadblocks were people were pulled from their vehicles if they were the wrong color, shackled, and loaded into police transport vans.  Resistors were shot or set on fire as onlookers laughed.  Finally arriving at my Father's, Dad rushed outside and helped carry the supplies into the his house.  He gathered everyone in Evan and I's toy room.  All the vehicles were parked around back, tails to the house, fueled and ready to go.  We pulled all the shades, locked all the doors, and boarded the up the lower windows.  Grandma penned that by midnight, with the house secured, everyone shared a small meal, taking turns talking about what they had been through during the day.  Later while the children and younger adults rested, Harvey and Grandma sat guard with the only rifle we had among us, cloaked in light from an oil lamp.  Dad, would go upstairs every hour or so and look out the curtains to see if anyone was approaching or roaming around outside. The next morning, a hard series of knocks landed on the front door or our home.  According to Grandma, Dad thought it best to have Harvey and his family, hide down in the basement.  Just as Dad locked the downstairs door, the knocks came again, only harder.  Grandma walked to the front door, unchained it and peered through the small opening.  The man at the door smiled into the door opening and said, it was safe to come out, turn your telly back on for further information, and then walked off the porch with his comrade and headed to the house next door.  Grandma wrote that she wasn't sure she believed the uniformed man, as she didn't recognize the outfit he was wearing.
Dad opened the door wider, and peered out at the men walking away, then shut the door.  They're British, Dad said to Grandma.  They both stepped out on the porch, and watched the men go to each house on the block.  Back inside, her diary said that Dad turned on the television and we all huddled around it as the Reporter showed pictures of the British forces arriving in America, and stopping the overthrow.  As the footage of leveled cities, and bodies strewn about the streets ran across the screen, Grandma brought Harvey and family up from the basement to share in the good news.  Slowly, we all filed outside, dropping to kiss the ground and thank God above for sparing us.

FOND FAREWELL TO TV LEGENDS

Robert Culp, the actor who teamed with Bill Cosby in the racially groundbreaking TV series "I Spy" and was Bob in the critically acclaimed sex comedy "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice," died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 outside his Hollywood home, his manager said. Culp was 79.  "I Spy," which aired from 1965 to 1968, was a television milestone in more ways than one. Its combination of humor and adventure broke new ground, and it was the first integrated television show to feature a black actor in a starring role.  Both he and Cosby were involved in civil rights causes, and when Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968 the pair traveled to Memphis, Tenn., to join the striking garbage workers King had been organizing.

Fess Parker, a television icon to a generation of youngsters as Davy Crockett and later Daniel Boone, has died of natural causes.  Parker was every baby boomer's idol in the 1950s when he launched a craze for coonskin caps.  Considered "The King of the Wild Frontier", six-foot-six actor turned winemaker Fess (yes, his real name was Fess) Parker, 85, died on March 18, 2010

Captain Lou Albano Passed Away At 76

Before Charles Martinet made Mario sound like an eccentric Italian ESL student from the land stereotypical accents, our 8-bit hero had another voice: Captain Lou Albano.

Captain Lou Albano, a former professional wrestler and actor (though never a sea captain), recently passed away at the age of 76 of natural causes. In the wake of his death, searches surged on the man and his unique body of work.

Lou Albano was a professional wrestling, a manager, an actor and more, but in 1989 most young gamers knew him only for his role as Mario on the Super Mario Bros Super Show. In contrast with Martinet's performance, Albano's Mario was a little more.. "Brooklyn" in accent. The show only lasted in syndication for one season, and although it was followed by a "Super Mario Bros. 3" show and a "New Super Mario World" cartoon, neither of these shows featured Mr. Albano.

Those of us who grew up with the show know it was cheesy and full of bad puns - but many still stick by Captain Lou Albano as the first, best, and true voice of Mario.

Wrestling fans know him as the WWE Hall of Famer who managed more than 50 wrestlers in his day, with more than two dozen championships won by athletes taken under his wing. 80's music fans might remember him from his appearances in many Cyndi Lauper music videos, including "Girls Just Want To Have Fun", "She Bop", "Time After Time" and "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough." As gamers, we of course remember him as the best live-action Mario of all time. That's not saying much when your chief competition is Bob Hoskins, but at least he was Italian. The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! might have only run a grand total of 52 episodes, but that was more than enough to cement Captain Lou's place in gaming history.

Louis Vincent Albano was an American professional wrestler, manager and actor. With an over-the-top personality and a penchant for boisterous declarations, "Captain" Lou Albano was the epitome of the antagonistic manager that raised the ire of wrestlers and incited the anger of spectators. Throughout his 42-year career, Albano guided 15 different tag teams and four singles competitors to championship gold.A unique showman, with an elongated beard, rubber band facial piercings, and loud outfits, he was the forefather of the 1980s Rock 'n' Wrestling Connection. Collaborating with Cyndi Lauper, Albano helped usher in wrestling's crossover success with a mainstream audience. Capitalizing on his success, he later ventured into Hollywood with various television, film, and music projects.

Albano's personal life :

During the 1990s, Albano shed 150 pounds (70 kg) following a health scare. In May 2005,Albano suffered a heart attack, but later recovered.

In 2008 he released his autobiography, "Often Imitated, Never Duplicated"with the foreword written by Cyndi Lauper.

Albano was one of five children born to Dr. Carmen Louis and Eleanor Albano, both deceased. The other Albano siblings are Vincent, George, Eleanor, and Carl.

Albano's brother, Carl, taught health for 32 years at Ridgewood High School in Ridgewood, NJ, and was head of the Ridgewood High health department from 1974 until 2001.Carl Albano's students have noted that he used his brother Lou as an example of the difference between crazy and unique.

Albano began his wrestling career in 1953 and rose to international fame, mostly as a manager, with the then-World Wrestling Federation, now called World Wrestling Entertainment.

He appeared in the first Wrestlemania at Madison Square Garden in 1985 and was inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame in 1996.

"World Wrestling Entertainment was saddened to learn of the passing of one of the company's most popular and charismatic legends," a statement on the WWE Web site read.

Some nostalgic Fact:

There's a scene in the film "The Wrestler" where Mickey Rourke's character, Randy "The Ram" Robinson, cuts his forehead during a wrestling match to ramp up the gory effects.

George Albano drew parallels to the film Wednesday, recalling how his iconic older brother, Louis Albano, cut his head with a razor hundreds of times to earn a "few extra bucks" as a professional wrestler.

In memories :

"He loved wrestling, but it was the most abusive profession you could imagine," said George Albano, principal at Lincoln Elementary School in Mount Vernon. "It's a hard way to make a living."

"I remember the kinder and gentler side of him," he said. "My dad died when I was 13, so Lou became my second father. He was someone who would never, never not help someone."

Albano died at 3:30 a.m on Wednesday of "natural causes" under hospice care in his Carmel home surrounded by his wife of 56 years, Geraldine, and his family. He was 76.

He suffered a series of health ailments over the years, including heart valve replacement and more recently a stroke following hip replacement surgery, his son, Louis Albano said."A lot of his complications were from wrestling," his son said.

He is survived by his wife Geri, 4 children, and 14 grandchildren.

The team of 13above.com would like to send our condolences to the family, friends and fans of Captain Lou.

Mysterious Death Of Mike Zimmer's Wife Vikki..!!

Sad news from the sports World : NFL Cincinnati Bengals coach Mike Zimmer’s Wife Vikki Zimmer was found dead on Thursday at the age of 50 at her home. Any foul play in her death is not suspected however officials have not ruled out the possibility until the autopsy is completed. Vicki survived by her two sons and a daughter.

Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer arrived home on Thursday night and discovered the lifeless body of his wife Vikki Zimmer, 50.

The cause of death has not been determined but foul play is not suspected.

Zimmer's wife, Vikki, died late Thursday, leaving Zimmer questionable to coach in this weekend's battle for first place of the AFC North.

Zimmer, keeping his family close during the trip, traveled with his father, Bill, son Adam and daughter Corri. His mother and another son remained in Cincinnati.

Bengals President Mike Brown Released a Statement:-

“We are stunned and saddened to learn of Vikki’s passing. She was a warm and popular person in the Bengals family, and our immense respect and affection for Mike makes this especially hard. Our hearts go out to Mike and his family.”

Mike Zimmer’s first coaching job was as a part-time defensive assistant at the University of Missouri. He then went to Weber State College, where he was the inside linebackers coach, defensive backs coach, and defensive coordinator from 1983 to 1988.

He then went to Washington State University as the defensive coordinator and secondary coach. In 1993, the Cougars finished eighth in the nation in total defense and second in rushing defense.

He joined the Dallas Cowboys in 1994 as an assistant coach of the nickel defense under Barry Switzer.

He was promoted to defensive backs coach (1995-99) before being promoted to defensive coordinator in 2000.

The 2004 Dallas Cowboys gave up the fewest yards in the NFL while running an aggressive speedy 4-3 defense. Despite the Cowboys' problems over the years, Zimmer has survived coaching changes (Switzer, Chan Gailey, Dave Campo, Bill Parcells) and rumored to have been a candidate for the head coaching job at the University of Nebraska.

For the 2005 season, he implemented the 3-4 defense favored by head coach Parcells, although Zimmer had no prior experience with it.

Cowboys coach Dave Campo summed it all up in a statement he released:

“This is a sad day because I feel the worst for the kids. They have three beautiful kids and in the coaching business, in many times, the kids are closer to their mother than they are their father because of the work schedule.”

It was impressive enough that Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer was on the sideline Sunday, three days after the unexpected death of his wife, Vikki. But then Zimmer's unit held the AFC's best offense to just 14 points and led the Bengals to the franchise's biggest win in years.
Before the game, Zimmer's defense dedicated their effort to the memory of Vikki. After their performance, in which they shut down the rushing attack of the Baltimore Ravens and picked off two Joe Flacco throws, the team awarded Zimmer the game ball. With his voice cracking and his head coach, Marvin Lewis, tearing up in the background, Zimmer told the team: "My wife loves all of you. Win or lose, she's proud of you. And I just appreciate all of your effort." The Bengals then surrounded their coach in a group hug. Watching the moment on television, even a Ravens fan would have had tears in their eyes.

“Mike is part of our Bengals family, and we’ll support him in every way we can,” said Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis. “We will dearly miss Vikki. She was a friend to all of us, and a big supporter of Mike’s players. Her thoughtfulness to them in so many ways will also be greatly missed.”
